No, people want to blame the ridiculously easy access to firearms. Besides, it's much too general to say things like "everyone wants" or even "people want" like I just did.
But what is true is that guns are different than other tools, different from other items that can be used as weapons like cars or bats or hatchets. We've seen time and time again that if a person wants to hurt a lot of people, a gun is the weapon of choice. So endless means is not very realistic at all.

The means MAGNIFIES the damage the perpetrator can do. It would be much more difficult to kill 30 people with a hatchet than it would be with an AR-15. Does anyone actually believe those two devices should be treated the same in terms of limiting their access by the general public?

What a crock of garbage.
Yes, that was a WTF moment for me.
In fact, the whole "The next thing you know..." rant that happens everywhere (even here) is pretty sad.
I think it's a symptom of Old Man Syndrome.
How quickly the onset is followed by yelling at kids on one's lawn will indicate the rate of mental decline.
It's even faster if there aren't any kids actually on one's lawn.

Exactly.
Plus the fact that using a gun is in many ways easier because it's much more abstract than using a blade or even clubbing someone..You stand anywhere and fire and you don't have to be near the person, there is no real connection in any intimate sense..you don't even have to look at em..it's a disconnect that makes it all the more appealing and efficient.

From the one link, it appears no citizens or police were injured in the incident, except for two patrons who were OC'd.
Very fortunate.
As it certainly could have been much worse, I'm wondering the motivation of this particular individual. He had ability and opportunity and yet nobody was actually injured.
I don't like to jump to conclusions but suicide by cop seems like a possible motive.

Might as well add the auto manufacturers as hit and run or drunk drivers kill. Let's add in brewers and distillers. Don't forget the pharmaceuticals as many use prescription medications illegally.
Or maybe we should lock violent criminals up for good and put people with serious psychological issues in institutions that can help them. Then again, that would be logical.
