If it is designed by the Apple Maps team there is no telling where it would take you.
That would be a FEATURE, of course, adding a little excitement to every ride.

The Google car probably has an "I'm feeling lucky" button that does the same thing.
I actually got to sit in one of the Google self driving Lexus based prototypes yesterday, it was a display at the Computer History Museum down the street from Google. One thing that I noticed was a Big Red Button on the center console, it wasn't labeled, but I'm guessing that it's an emergency disconnect of the computer controls.

Might also drive you past some 'sponsored' establishments and offer to stop.
