It seems that the age of cool Mac software has passed.

May it rest in peace.

Just imagine if Napster had been bought by M$, and they make it the main portal for buying apps, videos, and music on the Windows platform.

As someone who doesn't always get all the whinging about iTunes, I have to agree to this extent- why do we need one (theoretically) music centric app to rule them all manage all content bought from the Apple store?

Spread it out. ITunes for music, iVids for Music-video like content, iTV for tv shows and movies (and the app store in two flavors for ios and macos, as is).

Let 1000 flowers bloom.

How would they funnel all that content into one location (iDevices)? And would you really want to have run multiple databases to do it?

Thanks, was trying to remember what the original software was but it wasn't coming to me. Complaints about Apple effing it up started coming in the very first version of iTunes.

For desktop music organization, metadata usage and playback, Roon is being heralded in some circles. But it's not free software, which will make it a non-entity for most people.

I wish I could just make "playlists" for apps.

I am currently using Amazon Music more frequently than iTunes. Solely for ease of use.
