LOL I would love to see someone pick up a MacPro, turn it over and shake it!! Perhaps a young Charles Atlas, or Arnold Schwarzenegger, but they are a different beast than the old original iMacs.

I'm not strong enough to pick up that machine and shake it upside down! I did remove the side cover and look at the drive, which seems connected but still not working. I hadn't looked at the hardware configuration earlier, but checked it now and the drive does not show up...rats! So I will order an external DVD drive and try my luck there.

How much can an old Mac Pro weigh, 40lbs? I could shake that. Anyway, I would think if you popped it open and pulled the drive, the disk would be stuck inside the drive assembly and you could bang that around or try to exact the disk that way. I would buy a new optical drive only if you need and use an optical drive.

Did that and there is no disk in the drive.
