Heh.. every year...
A few years ago the ice fishing villages on western Lake Erie saw a sudden thaw and ice break. A large number of ice fisher folk had to be rescued by the USCG. So many that they declared that from now on those rescued after going out against USCG ice forecasts would be billed for the rescue. Helicopter time isn't cheap.
