This observation was obviously posted by either someone who didn't watch the series or thinks pro-wrestling is a sport. It was a compliment. Re: Downton Abbey final episode recap (spoiler) - SteveG - 03-07-2016 Stock market crash is only 3 years down the road. Re: Downton Abbey final episode recap (spoiler) - pqrst - 03-07-2016 I was waiting for Michael Gregson to reappear. If I recall correctly, there were reports of his demise, but no identified body (or do I recall incorrectly)? PS: what about a spin-off series following rose and aticus's adventures in the new world? Re: Downton Abbey final episode recap (spoiler) - pdq - 03-07-2016 I can't say it left me cold - it was still DA, which I have enjoyed immensely. But this, together with the penultimate episode, struck me as a little too neat - all tied up in a happy bow. It was as if Fellowes had already written another season, and then the powers that be decided that this was to be the last season, so he had to go back and rewrite these two episodes to quickly tie things up and put a "finish" on it. Or maybe I'm just grumpy that it's over. Looking forward to Fellowes new project (which could never be as wonderful, of course). It pops up on Netflix and Amazon on and off. Re: Downton Abbey final episode recap (spoiler) - RgrF - 03-07-2016 It was too neatly tied up, the sort of ending my wife pines for and that leaves me a bit cold. The series itself was far, far better than the ending episode. Re: Downton Abbey final episode recap (spoiler) - Grateful11 - 03-07-2016 There's rumors of a movie. Maggie Smith says she's glad it's over. Re: Downton Abbey final episode recap (spoiler) - pRICE cUBE - 03-08-2016 No big waves in the end but I am fine with that. Previous mentions that the series felt like it was originally supposed to g o maybe another season dawned on me also. They had to quickly tie up many loose ends. I loved the rescue of Lord Merton, a reverse case of damsel in distress. Very satisfying to see Larry Grey told that his father dislikes him. I guess correctly on Barrow coming back as the butler. I figured he would become the butler someday as he kept finding ways to come back. He is the cockroach of the service workforce. For crying out loud, he saved Edith and it seems like they all forgot about it until the end. My prediction that Bertie would take Edith back was correct, I did expect Patrick (alleged Titanic survivor) and Michael Gregson to burst in when they asked if any one objected to the marriage. Too soap opera? Yeah, but it would have been a crazy good cliff hanger to transition into a movie. |
