By today's standards Andrew Jackson was a homicidal sociopath, who righteously committed genocide against indigenous Americans in order to facilitate slavery. He had tanned Indian skins on display in the White House that he would proudly show to visitors.

Alongside a massive wheel of cheese, IIRC.

Better this way than the original proposal, which would have had him sharing the front.

Would have been awkward, him owning slaves and all.

Not to mention now it's the white guy's turn to go to the back of the bus bill.

Why couldn't we just have some new bills without the continuing deleting of American culture and history.

A $0.99 bill could come in handy
maybe even usable to pay for downsized food packaging.

If you Google you will see that currency used to be changed fairly frequently. In fact these faces may be the longest used ever. So what people are mistaking for tradition is in fact more like government inertia.

If you want to compare, do so with a peer. Similarly situated, Jefferson worked to ban the slave trade and emancipate slaves across the nation, freeing many of his slaves before his death. (Didn't take it all the way and free them all.)

Let's be absolutely clear about Jefferson. He freed seven slaves upon his death. The other 130 were sold at auction.

Freed a few before his death. Let a bunch "run away" (possibly his children) without sending anyone after them.

Not saying the guy was perfect. Just saying he made an effort.
