C'mon people. It happens every year at this time.

I think what the OP is asking why the "overnight" jump of such magnitude.....not a seasonal multi-day trend. If the answer is still the same , so be it, but make sure that's what you're addressing.

In their zest for being so sure, no -- they didn't address the OP's question.

I have family in O'Fallon, MO. Every week of the year prices easily jump 10-20 cents around the end of the week and fall back on Mon/Tuesday.

So why doesn't everyone "tank up" Tuesday or Wednesday? :dunno:

It's been over a decade since I've been in Toronto, Ontario, Canada but, back then, it was NOT unusual to see a $0.05 ~ $0.10 price increase per liter from the morning to later that afternoon. If you saw a good price, you were wise to fill up immediately.

Remember when it was $4/gal?
I don't have any association with the oil companies, except for being in a hate group against them, but even going to $2.15 is a pittance compared to $4.

were up to around $2.39 here in South Florida. No idea why, certainly not summer blend as we have temps in the 70's during most of the winter anyway.

Florida has supply problems just like California.
made worse by the driving population expanding in Winter

My son asked me the same question. I answered with this truism:

"Why does a dog lick his b-alls ?
Because he can."

It's spring. Gas prices always go up in the spring.

Re: gas price up - why?? - Yoyodyne ArtWorks - 04-28-2016

In spring the hydrocarbon atoms awake from their long winter slumber and, in their joy and excitement, become difficult to contain. The oil companies are forced spend more money to keep the rambunctious oil moving in an orderly fashion through the pipelines.

Edit: Or the oil executives just like licking their b-alls.
