[quote The Grim Ninja]Other than that, it's just a very long process. After doing it about 10 or 15 times now, I can get the job done in about 30 minutes or less.
Grim, now i know who to come to when I need a upgrade ...

Thanks Neighbor!

I took one apart a few weeks ago to scavenge some parts and gave up on putting it back together. Apple did an amazing job of tightly packing EVERYTHING in that form factor.

my guess is they didn't have a 600, so just shipped the 700 they had. send it back and have them do the upgrade. done. I wouldn't worry about losing your upgrade. as mentioned, larry does the right thing. just shoot him an email.

as a side note, if you muck up the upgrade, you'll probably void any warranty you had with them. let them do it and be done with it.

Yeah. The whole reason she got the ibook is cause we couldn't fix her old wallstreet. I replaced the board that the power cord attaches too and it didn't go. If you've ever done that, it's about as involved as replacing an optical drive on an ibook. Not something i'd care to repeat however...unless absolutely necessary.

I think I will PM Larry. Although, I suppose its no big deal. What's a 100 mhz anyway?

exactly. i would wonder what the price difference between a combo drive and a dvd burner would be. sure you could always use external, but the whole point of a laptop is to have everything you need away from the office. just a thought.
