Re: Microsoft Office 2008 (excel) on Sierra? - MindMeld - 02-12-2017 OK. A quick test of the sum of a column with 35 entries worked fine. Haven't tried anything else but I'm pretty confident everything else will work correctly. Thanks to all you great folks for responses. I guess the smart thing to do will be to buy a current version of Microsoft Office since 2008 is no longer supported with updates even though it runs. Re: Microsoft Office 2008 (excel) on Sierra? - pdq - 02-12-2017 Also running Office 2008 on Sierra successfully. Well, kinda. It's irrationally slow. It will often launch at reboot even if I take steps to prevent that. And quitting involves a prolonged rainbow wheel. But all of these things were true before Sierra. Google "Office 2008 slow to quit Mac" or "Office 2008 launches at startup Mac". I'd upgrade (it is coming up on 7 years old), but I'm not sure it would improve things. Re: Microsoft Office 2008 (excel) on Sierra? - jdc - 02-12-2017 Can you still buy Office 2008? or even 2010? Upping my wifes machine soon to Sierra (got her a used 2010 21.5 iMac for $200) -- but she wants Word. Im thinking Libre office, but she sometimes swaps stuff with her work PC. |
