Ditto, but my MW is open at the bottom (it hangs from the cabinet above), so maybe that is different from your situation.

Just make sure it's setup to vent out the front (usually the default out of the box) if you don't have an outside vent already.

I wasn't aware that you could choose how it vents. Have to look at the manual again. BTW, this is a regular counter mw.

A microwave is a fundamentally simple device...a magnetron, a fan, a turntable motor, a few microswitches and a circuit board/display. It isn't going to produce huge amounts of hot air that needs venting. IMHO, many appliances have excessive clearance/venting specs and overkill safety warnings that are based on worst-case scenarios, abundances of caution, and too many corporate lawyers.

Great point! I agree with you on the lawyer part too.

LOL, I just can't bring myself to throw out my coffee - will even drink it cold or microwaved till it tastes like old shoe leather!
