Odd you didn't mention the Dina Merrill's mother was Marjorie Merriwether Post, as in Post cereal....... And her dad was EF Hutton.....

Anyway. I visited the POST mansion (or at least one of them) as a teenager, outside DC. IT was turned into a museum, featuring many of the objects d'art Dina's mother collected, including mantastic russian objects like malachite and lapis place settings and faberge eggs. Dina lived there as a child.

Very sad about Sir Roger (he deserves his own Post. Get it, Post?)

Anyway, I think his tenure as Bond may have gone differently if they hadn't been so campy. He was the James Bond I saw on the big screen growing up. He and Jaws.

R.I.P. Sir Roger

Enjoyed his portrayals as Simon Templar and Beauregarde Maverick, so talented.

His View to a Kill movie is my favorite moore movie. Perfect combo of campiness and a great theme song. And tonya roberts was killer.

Live and Let Die was the first Bond movie I saw (as a kid) and it's still my favorite. My uncle took me to see it. I might have been a little too young; I wanted to see something else--probably a Disney movie or something--and he talked me into the Bond movie. I'm so glad he did because at the time I ended up thinking it was the greatest movie ever!

I have to agree with pqrst about Tanya Roberts but maybe not so much about the movie itself.

How can you say that about a movie that can have christopher walken and grace jones playing bad guys! Smile

I was thinking that too! Walken? I'll watch just about anything he does. Except maybe take a crap. He IS getting old, and I don't want that image to haunt me.

You're right! I will have to go sit in a corner for a while as punishment. I honestly did not remember the movie well enough to recall them until you mentioned it.

However, I still have to give the nod to Live and Let Die. The boat chase scenes through the bayou with the ultra redneck sheriff.

A good movie with Dina Merrill is "Operation Petticoat".
