Re: Switching from AT&T post-paid plan to pre-paid: Is it possible, any gotchas? - A-Polly - 08-24-2017 Unless they lower the cost of post-paid dramatically, going back isn't likely to be an issue. Welcome to the universe of pre-paid! I've been here for years, and not regretted it one bit. :oldfogette: Re: Switching from AT&T post-paid plan to pre-paid: Is it possible, any gotchas? - Bo - 08-24-2017 Mike Sellers wrote: Thanks for the follow up...great to know it worked! Re: Switching from AT&T post-paid plan to pre-paid: Is it possible, any gotchas? - Mike Sellers - 08-24-2017 OK, here's a bit of weirdness. This iPhone SE is strictly for backup purposes, since I and my kids all have iPhones and I always like to have a spare. The morning, my 6 would only connect via wireless, not via AT&T. I checked my account on the AT&T page and saw that my 6 was suspended. I got on chat with them and they said my 6 was suspended because it was reported stolen. Took a few minutes but they took the suspension off and all is well. Did I accidentally click something which caused it to be reported or was there some glitch with placing the SIM in the SE? Who knows, but just be aware if something like this happens. Re: Switching from AT&T post-paid plan to pre-paid: Is it possible, any gotchas? - Bo - 08-26-2017 Just a follow up to this thread. Everything worked super easily! Bought the iPhone SE in store at BB for $150. Walked out with a sealed phone not activated. At home backed up my current iPhone 5 (via iCloud and computer), powered it down then swapped the sim from it to the new SE. Fired it up the SE, went through the start up process then did an update. After update completed, I did a restore from my iPhone 5 backup via iCloud (tried via computer first but got an error). Once restore was complete, everything works just fine on the new phone. Now have a "prepaid" iPhone SE working on my existing regular/post paid AT&T account. Just need to decide if I now want to shift the family over to a prepaid account which would save money. |
