Re: So our washer is making our clothes smell mildewy. options? - mikebw - 08-24-2017 Sometimes clothes don't smell very fresh after a wash, but I always took that to mean I didn't use enough soap. Re: So our washer is making our clothes smell mildewy. options? - Speedy - 08-24-2017 At a minimum, wash your bed sheets and bath linens using chlorine bleach. Done every time, your mildew problem will go away in short order. If you want to speed up the process, run a load of towels with double the recommended amount of bleach and use hot water. Nobody in my house uses bleach. Except me: I use bleach when I wash my clothes, bed sheets and bath linen. Everytime. I use the recommended amount. We also leave the door open. Never a problem with odors, etc. And the bleach does not wear anything out noticeably faster than it would otherwise.
