escort kicked over the first time with a jump from the g20.

will get it to my mechanic and see if charging properly.

thanks to all who cared to share.

coming off 16 days straight of work for a total of approx 200 hrs, i've a list of headaches to deal w/the escort being the first, but also including invoicing the client for those 200 hrs.

ca-ching!

be well

I owned Escorts for most of my driving career until I got my 2000 Honda CR-V. It is probably the starter solenoid (sp) they frequently go BAD after a while and give the symptoms you describe. It happened to 2 of the 4 escorts I've owned in the last 15+ years.
Found some info here:

USUALLY Less than a $50 part if I remember.

Not The Solenoid.
Read the post above yours.
Couldn't be the solenoid, it jump started.

What BGnR said. Big Grin

Also when you jumpstarted the car, did you connect both clamps to the positive and negative terminals on the g20? Thats a good way to damage the alternator on the car that is providing the power.

carm-

interesting link.

i did not connect to all the terminals but rather where applicable grounded to metal.

but i did have the g20 running when i tried to start the escort. i have never seen/heard anyone jump a car w/o the charged car being on.

have u jumped a car w/o the charged car running? does it really work? anyone else ever jump a car w/o the charged car running?

thanks for the tip.

be well
