True, but that result is a hung jury/mistrial, assuming that one person digs in his/her heels on all 17 (?) counts. And if that were to be the case, it would be pretty obvious, and if Mueller and Co. wanted, they could retry the case. But Manafort's next trial starts next month, IIRC, and that one would put him away for life too, IIRC, so it might be a moot issue.

I personally don't think that will be the outcome - I have more faith in the jury system than that. But as recent years have proven, anything is possible./
I don't think the President is interfering for Manafort's benefit, but a mistrial would be good news for him, at least in the short term.
