Re: Affinity Publisher Beta available - Free Download - JoeM - 08-31-2018 Just reading a bit about importing ID files. While not available now, Affinity says they are working on it but have no date available yet. People are saying they can import PDFs made from the ID file. I tried but it's only the workspace, not the UI. You can lighten the panels against the frame but it's still dark. Seems weird. Maybe I missed something. I'll look again. I'll try with Quark, ID and Word PDFs and write back. Re: Affinity Publisher Beta available - Free Download - JoeM - 09-01-2018 Just saw that it will remove the application frame and leave movable palettes by selecting Window> Separated Mode. But I think you mean "convert" a PDF to an ID file. You cant "convert" an ID PDF into ID, so I doubt if a Publisher PDF will either? Re: Affinity Publisher Beta available - Free Download - JoeM - 09-01-2018 I was able to open PDFs made in InDesign (business card and 8 fold pocket guide with extensive tables), Quark catalog with extensive tables, Illustrator, ArchiCAD, Acrobat Distiller on Windows and a WordPDF with tables. All in all it handles multi page PDFs very impressively. And I found the button to turn the UI light. I'm buying it as soon as it is available. I really like this company and will continue to support them by buying any new applications they develop. There is no import feature so no it is not placing the PDF into a project file like we are used to in Adobe applications. I am using "open", which looks to be converting the PDF into an editable Affinity document.
