Re: Out of place - gabester - 02-22-2019 I don't drink coffee, but I can understand the disdain for those who feel the need to frequent Starbucks regularly. I'm somewhat concerned about the young kids who spend time there, seems like an all too easy slippery slope into the caffeine dependency cycle. That said, they have pretty good demographers who seem to know when to move into a neighborhood. It's a sign you've got sufficient economic prosperity when you get a Starbucks in your community. Re: Out of place - NewtonMP2100 - 02-22-2019 .....yeah, you can ask for just coffee.....what's up with all the haterade........?? Re: Out of place - mrbigstuff - 02-22-2019 Kind of amazed at the folks who have never been in an sbux. I guess if you don't drink coffee..But it's also just a place to meet or kill time waiting on some stuff. Re: Out of place - pRICE cUBE - 02-22-2019 ![]() Re: Out of place - Sam3 - 02-22-2019 I'm not allowed to drink caffeine, so I can only drink decaf coffee. Starbucks is the only place that has a decaf that I like, that doesn't taste all chemically. I rarely get their foo-foo drinks, and I don't feel that I'm looked at weirdly for only getting a plain coffee. Most of the time I get a pour-over, as the majority of SB don't brew decaf in the afternoon, and some smaller Starbucks don't ever brew decaf. So it's a double-win for me, as the pour-over tastes much better. As graylocks stated, just ask for a coffee. But even then you usually have a choice to make, as they typically have a couple of brewed coffees ready, usually their house brand Pike's Place and a specialty one, either a single origin dark roast or a lighter Veranda blend. Re: Out of place - NewtonMP2100 - 02-22-2019 ....yes, they offer usually a light blend coffee and a dark blend......by afternoon the dark is always gone..... Re: Out of place - NewtonMP2100 - 02-22-2019 ....only meant to indicate that dark roast seems to be the most popular..... Re: Out of place - deckeda - 02-22-2019 I felt the same way the first time I stepped into the local feed store. So many new gadgets and products never before seen in auto parts stores or coffee shops. Best thing about Starbucks is that they’ve popularized the coffee shop. It’s like being able to chill out in a library, only you can talk and the place smells better. And the coffee’s better, too. Sort of like those places that used to sell “books.” |
