I think Waze is owned by Google.

Hmmm - I've been a happy iPhone user of Waze for a two or three years now and it continues to serve well with the right traffic efficient/least congested routes navigating Austin. learned 'waze' i'd never have known connected the way this cities' curved road system works + the off mains.

that said - never used it to find parking. I use it everyday and currently have v4.8 installed fwiw.

It's been great up until now and I've recommended it to a lot of people.

But navigation software that doesn't take you to your intended destination is useless. Over and over again, it refused to give me directions to the address that I entered and instead directed me to a parking garage around the corner.

I kind of hope that this is someone messing with the system with crazy map-edits, but the links to the garage's website make it look very official.

At least it's not doing it with my saved favorites. Only new addresses.

So far.

Sarcany, where are you located?
Most of my Wazing is in LongIsland, NY. Haven't seen this happen yet. I use it mostly for traffic reroutes.

Google buys a thriving startup, they kill any real improvements or development, they milk it for cash, they abandon it. That’s what they do. One of the worlds largest companies uses its market power to thwart any innovation it can’t control.

except for the OP's parking hiccup, i've found Waze has only gotten better and better. just last week i was going to an event in Atlanta that Apple Maps said would take 49 minutes. thinking it wasn't routing me around traffic i put the address into Waze. travel time 40 minutes as Waze took me off the interstate that a few more miles down the road was going to turn into a parking lot.

That's 100% because of massive data collection, not any improvement Google has made under the hood.

Cities now need to wrestle with the disruption Waze has caused to traffic patterns. In Los Angeles, Waze regularly directs people off freeways and on to local roads for a detour. It's not just annoying to residential areas -- municipalities are footing bills caused by all this increased wear and tear caused by traffic that is merely driving through their city, no intention of stopping. The costs aren't lessened, but merely shifted. You got off the interstate and it saved you time, but all the Wazers who did that slowed down local traffic. And any effienciency from load balancing is quickly eaten up by induced demand. Those local roads in LA used for detours are becoming just as clogged during peak times, so there are detours to detours. And all these Wazers smile to themselves like they figured out a way to beat the system.

You're not in traffic. You are traffic.
