Re: RIP: Ric Ocasek [ 'The Cars' ] @ 75..... - mrbigstuff - 09-16-2019 Ocasek lied about his age because he was older than a lot of his peers when The Cars really hit. Re: RIP: Ric Ocasek [ 'The Cars' ] @ 75..... - tuqqer - 09-16-2019 Wasn't too big a fan of them, but the open chord sequence of "It's All I Can Do" remains one of the best and surprising I've ever heard. Re: RIP: Ric Ocasek [ 'The Cars' ] @ 75..... - DavidS - 09-16-2019 "Doesn't anybody f'ing know anymore?" R.I.P. - also glad they got inducted into the RnR HOF. They deserved it. Re: RIP: Ric Ocasek [ 'The Cars' ] @ 75..... - rz - 09-16-2019 RIP Ric. I wasn't aware he was that old either. Lots of great music. I remember getting into an argument with someone back in the late 80s. I said something about the Cars being a "New Wave" band, and he was adamant that they were a "Rock" band. Kinda pointless, I know. The fact that he ended up with Paulina Porizkova pretty much confirmed that guitar players get all the good looking women... I grew to like the Cars after I initially panned them. MTV certainly solidified their success. I also was shocked he was 75 Y.O. Always looked like a wig to me. And I would argue that Paul McCartney in the 70s is the only one who ever wore a mullet that looked cool. After listening to them for awhile, it got to where all of their songs sounded the same to me.
