:dunno: As usual; no accounting for personal tastes.

INDEED! I once thought it was safe to crack a joke about no-talent Barry Manilow's up coming concert in a group of similarly aged people and one small voice say, "I LIKE Barry Manilow."

I now realize that ANYONE in popular music has some fans - else I never would have heard of them...

On all the radio stations I worked on, there was an informal agreement amongst the jocks and management that certain groups were never played on the air. America, Bay City Rollers, Paul Anka “(You’re) Having My Baby”, Terry Jacks “Seasons in the Sun”, Three Dog Night, Rick Dees “Disco Duck”, Bo Donaldson & The Heywoods, "Billy, Don't Be A Hero" and others were on the list along with Grand Funk. And somehow, our stations were always the #1 rockers in the market.

Only a couple of theirs I can get behind, both atypical. They really were a vocal trio, not a "band".

"Ballroom Blitz" FTW!

Fox On The Run was a favorite when I was a teen. I had no idea that androgyny was a thing in 1975. Of course Youtube, nor MTV, was a thing at that time.

Homer's thoughts on the subject

"You kids don't know Grand Funk? The wild shirtless lyrics of Mark Farner? The bong-rattling bass of Mel Schacher? The competent drumwork of Don Brewer? Oh, man!"

"Grand Funk Railroad paved the way for Jefferson Airplane, which cleared the way for Jefferson Starship. The stage was now set for The Alan Parsons Project, which I believe was some sort of hovercraft."
