You know who the person is. you have them on body cam. You have them on dashcam. You have their car information. In a world full of modern surveillance technology, you can just wait for them to come home and pick them up there without risk.
We need to focus on keeping people safe. That includes those who may have committed crimes.
Sounds like a good plan BUT, after having "been there, done that", it OFTEN simply does NOT out work that way. Same sort of "reasonable gun control" laws are often "pie in the sky" dreaming (the two worst homicides in NY were the result of PETROLEUM products, NOT guns).
Please DON'T come here crying that you or yours got run over by some nut job who WASN'T being chased asking "why didn't somebody stop him / them"?

Shooting a fleeing suspect is allowed if the cop fears imminent deadly risk to others - or to the cop.

Yep. Problem is, there’s no proof needed, only the fear of it. 3 seconds later brings the first #whataboutism question, followed 2 seconds later by a demand that if those who flee are not shot, then everyone else who agrees with that must guarantee no innocent person is ever harmed as a result of the perp getting away.
