I think even if you have the Pfizer vaccine AND get the South African variant, you are STILL not in the hospital. Which is the point, really.

Effectively, no real difference in effectiveness. More reported side effects (flu-like) from Moderna.

Reportedly, Moderna has 5X the genetic material of the Pfizer, so possibly more effective against variants. I would take either.

Given a choice I'd choose Pfizer over Moderna, but both offer essentially identical levels of protection - I wouldn't turn either down.
