Re: Tim Scott rebuttal = the usual BS - deckeda - 04-29-2021 “we are not a racist country,” Scott said. “We deal with racism because there is racism in the country. Both are true, not mutually exclusive.” Word salad is not racist. We deal with word salad because there is word salad in the country. Both are true, not mutually exclusive. Republicans regardless of skin color have the gift of never seeing context nor a bigger picture. Re: Tim Scott rebuttal = the usual BS - sekker - 04-29-2021 I heard his whining at the beginning, then he moved into the adults in a Peanuts cartoon. Did he say anything useful or just the same old platitudes? Re: Tim Scott rebuttal = the usual BS - PeterB - 04-29-2021 deckeda wrote: FTFY. Re: Tim Scott rebuttal = the usual BS - S. Pupp - 04-29-2021 “we are not a racist country,” Scott said. “We deal with racism because there is racism in the country. However: - SLAVERY WAS STILL LEGAL IN MISSISSIPPI 8 YEARS AGO. - Look at the racial disparity in prisons, and consider the possibility that making African Americans do forced labor might just be a form of slavery. - White supremacists still march through towns with the protection of police, under the banner of "free speech." - There is, without question, systemic racism among the police force. I hardly need to outline my reasons for saying so. Scott, you're splitting hairs for political reasons. Careful - you'll lose the minority vote, leaving you reliant on South Carolina whites to vote for you. Re: Tim Scott rebuttal = the usual BS - Numo - 04-29-2021 Scott told white Republican voters exactly what they wanted to hear. He came across as a friendly, reasonable and non-threatening black person. In that sense, I think he gave a very effective rebuttal. As a Dem, I was disheartened by how well he sold he product. Re: Tim Scott rebuttal = the usual BS - Lemon Drop - 04-29-2021 I only heard criticism of Dem plans, no constructive alternatives. Party of no carries on. Re: Tim Scott rebuttal = the usual BS - deckeda - 04-30-2021 What was cute about Scott playing the race card was that Biden's speech really wasn't about race. The only advantage the Dems have with this is that the product is abhorrent and on its face a crock of shiznit, so in his selling it, it's only those who are willing to eat shiznit who will be willing to buy it. The rest of us see the shiznit for what it is. Putting icing on a dogshiznit cake doesn't change the fact that it's still a dogshiznit cake, and you wouldn't want to eat it. |
