I don't believe that has stopped 3rd party manufacturers before. Maybe they just haven't figured out the reverse engineering yet. Tamron making lenses for there Sony E Mount is a definite plus as Sony lenses are pretty pricy.

That's my understanding as well, that Canon and Nikon mounts are reverse engineered. I wouldn't have that RF and Z mount protocols would be all that different, but maybe they are?
I believe Sony actually provides 3rd party manufacturers with protocol information for E-mount.

I am not sure about Sony’s arrangement. If true, Sony is betting that 3rd party lenses can increase their platform popularity. Canon and Nikon are trying to protect their lens sales. I predict Sony will increase their MILC popularity at the expense of their competition.

There are Tamron EF-mount (Canon) versions of 28-75/2.8, 28-200, 70-300 but they are all really old. There is a more recent EF-Mount 17-35/2.8-4.
Yes, the full frame Sony E mount lenses. They aren't quite as good as some of the more expensive Sony G or GM lenses but are very good for the money and in most cases the better choice based upon cost.

They are also smaller and lighter! I really like the 28-200mm as a versatile lens, even on the 61MP A7R IV, it does a good job, and it is smaller and significantly lighter than Sony's 24-240mm.
