That's pretty much a metal box - kinda like a metal platform bed without legs. That's pretty cool if you have a standard bed/bed frame and want to continue using it. The concern I'd have with it is if a bed has support in the middle for it. All too many beds and bed frames lack support in the middle. It's a common issue.
Some people actually purchase a platform bed to drop into the interior a bed frame. Sometimes it's because the bed would require a foundation. Other times it's because the slats are wood and not truly strong enough to support a mattress and the weight of two average size people as they're snoozing or getting frisky. So, rather than use the slats, they buy a metal platform frame to drop into the bed frame.

How long have you had this? Because it gets mixed reviews. Like I said... it's a spare room so probably will be fine.
I assume you mean the mattress - we are on our second one. We got our first one (10.5" version) in 2015. It was used nightly through 2019 and then went to one of our guestrooms. We replaced it with the same except at 13".
The platform has been in a guestroom since 2015.
