I know they said that no sanctuaries can take him, but what about a zoo? I realize that zoos aren't really popular with the pro-wildlife folks but it would beat being euthanized.

It’s being discussed as an option:
‘ After it’s captured, the bear could be killed or relocated, according to the Department of Fish and Wildlife.
“Any decision on what to do with the bear after capture is the discretion” of the state, department spokesperson Peter Tira wrote in an email.
According to the department’s black bear policy, “Adult bears may be poor candidates for placement [in a sanctuary] due to the chronic stress of adjusting to captivity after living in only wild conditions.” ‘

That bear probably has diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
Humans need to do the right thing and put that bear in a sanctuary for the rest of it's life, where it will be fed properly and cared for (lord knows it can no longer do those things for itself).
