I DO see that in their specs for that model, they have a 0-60 time listed, but, the 0-88mph time (4.35 seconds) is listed FIRST. They know who their market is, LOL.

John DeLorean was exonerated. The court found that the FBI had manipulated him (aka entrappment) to secure an arrest. Rumors abound that the sting was planned under pressure from existing automakers to sink the listing DeLorean ship. The most expensive part of the tooling needed to produce cars or parts were the metal stamping dies. Within days of bankruptcy, the dies were removed from the plant and dumped in the ocean to ensure that even if DeLorean did secure more funding he'd never make more cars. I'm not saying that it was a conspiracy, but it sure seemed suspicious.

On August 16, 1984, the jury returned their verdict in the case: not guilty, finding that DeLorean was a victim of clear government entrapment.

Unfortunately for DeLorean, his legal woes didn’t end there; he later faced criminal fraud charges (which he was also acquitted from at trial). He also faced civil investor lawsuits and a lawsuit for unpaid attorneys fees (of over $10 million).

John DeLorean died at the age of 80 on March 20, 2005, following complications from a stroke.

Tucker .... again.

I'm interested to see what the real vehicle will look like when they get around to making the first and probably only one in 5-10 years.

They say they'll have a hands-on model or prototype that they'll take to auto shows in August. My guess is that it will be a shell built onto a Tesla without working doors.

I'd bet an extended chassis Yugo.

Utterly not surprised, based on my research into Tesla and what they had to deal with.

deLorean anew = reLorean

Re: deLorean anew - RAMd®d - 06-01-2022

I like the new Delorean.

The gull wing doors look cool but give me pause.

How much side room and overhead clearance is needed to open them?

The Model X falcon-doors are supposed to need very little (one-foot?) but seem to have been problematic otherwise.

I like the swing up doors as on the Mclaren GT.

But overall, the look of the Deloren or Lucid appeals to me, something in a more elegant GT.

Cars built in Texas, dunno ....

as a reminder .....

in which would you rather fog the windows?

That Merc in the background. It has a full-width backseat.
