Anything containing sucralose makes me ill for days. Every time.

Stevia causes me severe gastrointestinal distress. I don't like ingesting any artificial sweeteners (including corn syrup). I'd rather eat a little too much real sugar.

Authentic Stevia is not artificial.

It tastes like cane sugar with an almost imperceptible hint of strawberry.

Licorice aftertaste for me.

After many years of amateur observation, I have come to the conclusion that fake sugar (or really, any fake food) makes you fat.

Genes have the bigger effect, but fake foods just lock you in to a inescapable spiral.

- don’t mean to seem to trivialize this. This is what I truly believe, having watched a number of friends battling weight issues. But it’s just my opinion.

Define artificial. Whatever--sugar substitute. It tastes like a turd in protein drinks. There's nothing inherently wrong with glucose, so I'll stick with that in moderation, usually.

Yes, that's what it is, at least mostly. No reason it would taste the same to everyone though either. There were studies a long time ago that suggested non-caloric sweeteners increase craving for sugar, so I agree with PDQ that it can be counter-productive (also from experience).

From my personal experience, it's not that fake sweeteners make one fat but they cause such gastrointestinal distress that they make one bloated.
