Perhaps MS wants to pass the security burden onto the user - "You clicked on Allowed, didn't you? Then it's your fault you got infected."

You are coming to a sad realization.

Is loose/looser the new moran?

Okay, I can assume this is the exact issue the Apple commercial addresses. I was not sure if the commercial was solely addressing the multitude of inane dialogues or the actual security implications of not needing to reauthorize when modifying system files.

What a maroon.

I think that all the "Wizards" are there for people who don't know how to do anything on their own. They need someone else to do it for them, and they have no intention of learning how it works so they can do it themselves in the future.
Of course the real solution would be to make things so easy that there is no 'figuring it out' process, and then the wizards could be eliminated.
Possibly by fire-breathing dragons.
