About 90% (my estimate) of the snowbirds in Florida are from Minnesota so Florida could be hurting. Re: Real ID reqirements - rz - 07-06-2023 Speedy wrote: Your estimate is way off. If I had to guess, I'd say Michigan based on the license plates I see here in winter. NY is up there too. BTW: It looks like RealID licenses from those states are valid. https://www.flhsmv.gov/driver-licenses-id-cards/visiting-florida-faqs/ Re: Real ID reqirements - dk62 - 07-07-2023 OK, so it seems the licenses that Florida does not recognize are all specifically for undocumented individuals, not regular state licenses, nothing to do with Real ID. They are generally not accepted as ID on the federal level even now (before Real ID requirement is put in force) - you could not board a plane with one. Some of the other states' information even says that those are not valid for driving in any other state or may be not valid for driving in some states. So much less dramatic than originally seemed. Edit: so Lemon Drop was correct I still boycott Florida when I can Re: Real ID reqirements - macphanatic - 07-08-2023 PA is still issuing non Real ID licenses as first time licenses. If you want Real ID, you need to pay more to get one issued. Need basically the same info to get the non Real ID except for some stupid reason, you need 2 pieces of mail with your name on it to your current address. You can even send empty envelopes addressed to yourself. The fact that you have a birth certificate, valid passport and social security card isn’t enough. Our politicians are the biggest f’ing morons. Re: Real ID reqirements - RgrF - 07-08-2023 It's window dressing, a "make it look like we're doing something" strategy, like removing shoes at the airport and most everything else the TSA does. |
