What I didn't understand is if Rober was testing Tesla's Autopilot against itself or against him. It didn't seem like it was the latter. This would suggest that the ADAS system detected the collision but too late and disengaged the system instead of applying the brakes. If that's true, that's heinous. I assume Autopilot would disengage if the driver hit the brakes, early on. If Autopilot disengaged at the 'last second' because it didn't brake in time, then the driver wasn't paying appropriate attention, and assumed AP would handle it. Until it didn't. Coyote Test - N-OS X-tasy! - 03-19-2025 Meep meep. Re: Camera Based Autopilot Fails Wile E. Coyote Test - kj - 03-19-2025 Is that something the tesla needs to be able to do? There is a universe of things it can’t do, so why does it need to understand optical illusions? I’ve never in my life seen or heard of fake tunnels with actual roads leading to them. Re: Camera Based Autopilot Fails Wile E. Coyote Test - special - 03-19-2025 Tunnels? probably not, that's a stretch. Most other cases are valid real world scenarios. Without Lidar or RADAR, Teslas should not have autonomous driving. Re: Camera Based Autopilot Fails Wile E. Coyote Test - kj - 03-21-2025 I’ll give you rain and fog, but cameras can have depth perception and the coyote thing is dung on the cake. Re: Camera Based Autopilot Fails Wile E. Granted, they seem to be more for wide and telephoto, but presumably software can still get depth perception info from that. We humans have two "cameras" (eyes) and have depth perception. Cover one eye, and your depth perception goes away. |
