Tesla is entirely a binary play now. Either they solve robotaxi fully (no teleoperators) or the stock is going to drop substantially. They can't sustain their current valuation selling just cheaper trims of the Model 3 and Y. Most of their leadership/management team that made the Model 3 and Y a success are gone now due to Musk's actions. Musk better deliver on robotaxi and self driving, or Tesla's cooked.

Stick a fork in it.

They say never rule Musk out, but in this case I tend to agree with you. Everything that made him great and brought about Tesla's success is gone now.

Not me. But if he makes the fares cheap enough to counter brand damage, people may ride in them. Of course, so much for profit in that case.

Oh, I think something like robots driving humans is a good idea, believe it or not. It solves the "last mile" problem in transportation. But it's not going to happen for a while due to regulations and safety concerns. In 10 years, I think we'll not give it much thought.

Why buy an EV when gas prices are at record lows?

Even less then $2 a gallon now!

I'd actually like to try the Waymo robotaxi for the rare situations where I need to use Lyft. I've encountered some of the Waymo's on the local roads in Mountain View and it's really weird seeing nobody behind the wheel after all of these years where their test vehicles had a human in the seat. The one's I've seen also didn't have passengers, just an empty car driving itself around on local roads.

But I checked their service area map and they don't come to my house. It's also difficult at times to get Lyft drivers to pick me up at my house, they often bail out once they start seeing where they need to travel to, especially if they get far enough on their way and lose cell service. I figured a robotaxi might be more dependable.
