Re: Somebody brought me some Oreos and they don't taste right - Racer X - 04-24-2025 Huge issues with cocoa harvests. Prices have shot up, so I'm sure corners are being cut. Re: Somebody brought me some Oreos and they don't taste right - NewtonMP2100 - 04-24-2025 ......many......many things these days.......that leave a bad taste in the mouth........ Whoever reformulated them should be fired yesterday, if not earlier. As for the Oreos, I've never been a huge fan, but the last time I had them -- yes, I noticed a difference. I did also recently try the golden Oreos, which I thought were quite good. But almost nothing will beat Nutter Butters to me. Those things are just evil. I will occasionally buy a snack pack to eat a couple, don't dare to buy a full package as they will be gone in just a couple hours. Re: Somebody brought me some Oreos and they don't taste right - Fritz - 04-24-2025 I prefer Neumans knock offs. TJs aren't bad in an emergency. Re: Somebody brought me some Oreos and they don't taste right - rgG - 04-24-2025 You know how the Girl Scout thin mints come in I think two cello packs per box, well that’s two servings, just saying. So yeah, take out a row. ![]() And, that’s why I don’t go near the Girl Scout cookie tables when they are selling them. I have no self control. I too avoid the Girl Scout cookie tables. Make no eye contact, take a deep breath and keep walking. Fast. But I have been known to just give them money (the price of a box or two) and tell them to either eat them themselves, or give them to someone who may need a cookie (or a box) to make their day a bit brighter. Gotta watch the sugar intake. Nothing like getting woozy from too much. Re: Somebody brought me some Oreos and they don't taste right - MindMeld - 04-24-2025 PeterB wrote: Nutter Butters RULE! They are light, crispy, not too much chocolate and the peanut butter is just right. Re: Somebody brought me some Oreos and they don't taste right - DewGuy - 04-25-2025 I'm one of those people that split my Oreos, by pulling it apart, scrape the creme filling off with my teeth and then eat the cookie, repeat for other half. I never eat them whole, so can't speak to that combined taste. Sometime around Covid, Oreos went from being made in the U.S. (possibly New Jersey) to Mexico. Since that time we've noticed the quality isn't consistent. Sometimes the creme filling has a greasy consistency and doesn't taste as sweet. Sometimes the filling isn't as creamy and taste more like powered sugar. Occasionally the cookie part will have a dirty less chocolatey taste. Frequently we'll get family size packages where every single cookie is broken. It's not that they're broken from manhandling, but the cookie has a crack or defect in it, in the same place on every single cookie. When you go to twist them apart the the pieces break free from the filling and make them much more difficult to eat. I'm thinking that the one of the cookie molds is somehow defective, or the machine that puts them together is pressing too hard in the same spots on every cookie. None of these problems existed with the American made cookies to the best of my recollection. |
