Re: Older HP laserjet dilemma - john-o - 05-23-2007 Wow, great input all! I think Paul F. summed it up best, since I was obviously looking for a reason to keep it. It does not do automatic duplexing, or that would have sold me on it even more. (It will do it for a single double-sided print, by using the manual feed tray for the first page, like when you're using a pre-printed letterhead. Anyway, I'll probably be keeping it, and donating the 6MP elsewhere. [And yes, the 6 does have LocalTalk, but that almost doesn't count. I still have a couple of adapters, but man, those things were always such a pain to keep working, imho!] Did some more reading, and the 4 will definitely turn off the fuser after anywhere from 15 min. to indefinite. It's "EnergyStar" rated, if that still means anything! I will probably take a look around to see if I can get a quieter fan for it too. Re: Older HP laserjet dilemma - jdc - 05-23-2007 once it goes into sleep mode it should be silent, no fan you can find lower 500 sheet paper trays on ebay, mine had 500 sheets of letter and 11 x 17 in the upper toner is about $100, i would stick with the real HP stuff, every refilled cart i used was gray when printing, not black toner lasts for a very long time... heres mine (sold long ago) ![]() Re: Older HP laserjet dilemma - john-o - 05-23-2007 Thanks jdc, I'd actually already done an ebay search for that big lower tray, and the only one I found was brand new, for something like $10, but shipping was $125!!! Of course it's located in somewhere like Peru or Brazil... I'll keep looking. |
