I had a run in with them a few years back (when they were smaller) and they wouldn't accept that they were in the wrong. Had a few emails back and forth and they really were starting to get the "we don't care as we've already got your money" attitude. It put a bad taste in my mouth and I will never give them another cent.

That said, most people seem to be of the opinion that they like the service now although the catalog is somewhat limited.

It's a principle thing for me but I'm guessing you'd do ok by giving it a shot.

I had a really hard time selecting 100 free tunes from them when I signed up for their free trial because of their limited catalog. I ended up getting a bunch of comedy stuff from them

I've been happy with eMusic. It's quicker and easier to browse and listen to samples via iTunes, but the sound quality of the eMusic selections are great (and DRM-free) and I've found quite a bit of obscure indie bands there.
