Pismo has reputatino for reliability. Also, has firewire, for target mode bootability

BGnR, I used at least one USB2 card that didn't require any drivers... still not sure what the big advantage is over Firewire-- you cannot target disk mode boot with it, it's bursty in terms of transmission rate, and you cannot boot from it. On the flip side, it doesn't seem to have as many port failures as Firewire...

Thanks folks, Just checking. And No I cannot afford more than a couple hundred right now so apple refurbs are out, if money was there sure but not now.
She really likes the clamshells which appear to be right between the Lombard and Pismo (366 and 466 that is) for features but the price is high for them overall.
Oh well back to looking.

Pismo has an AirPort slot. Lombard would require a PC wireless card. If you want USB 2.0 and wireless at the same time, then get a Pismo and a PC card. Otherwise both are good machines. The video card in the Pismo is slightly better. I have Pismo and love it!

You can USB boot from the MacIntel.

Thanks again for all the input. However my wife decided to get what she wanted which was a Clamshell ibook (366 indigo) which is fine with me. It has firewire, and it has an airport card installed. I may need a bigger hard drive (it has a 10 gig) and I will max the ram (it has 192). About $275 plus $20 shipping and I am not unhappy because that was only a little more than I wanted to spend.

Yes, the Clamshells are little more stylish but working on the Pismo is a walk in the park compared to the Clamshell.

I just earlier today put back together two of my clamshells which I had done hard drive replacements -- the Blackberry and one graphite.
It's not so bad, when, like me, you've done it ten times or so...
By the way, if anybody's curious-- the problem I was having with Target Disk Mode on the Blackberry awhile ago turned out to be the hard drive itself-- it was defective, sent it back to the seller on ebay, and got a new one to replace it with-- works fine in all respects.
