CONCLUSION
The cores on the new Mac Pro obviously use less power than the cores on the previous model. Save energy and go green. Buy a 2008 Mac Pro!
Thanks for the link. I've been wondering about the possible power savings and that answers it. I'd still like to see a comparison between the old 4-core 2.66 and new 4-core 2.8 though.

3P, I hate to rain on your parade but isn't it only $300 less than a newer machine if you figure that a new 8-core 2.8 is about as fast as an old 8-core 3.0? $1000 less than the old version was though.

Well. I guess it's actually $1500 less than what it sold for originally, but comparing it to the new 8-core 2.8 I guess is a fair comparison.
