there are 500 gig 2.5 drives out now -- but i would use an external FW 400 if i had a mini

The iMac will cost more overall but it will be faster too.

On the other hand, I think there's something strangely elegant about your entire computer being the size and shape of the mini.

If you get the mini, you must upgrade the RAM to 2GB. It will seem horribly, painfully slow if it has 512MB. 1GB won't be too bad but I think it still needs 2GB.

I think that mini maxes out at 2G, where the iMac may max at 4G.

And with the ability to use two monitors (without the expense of the Matrox) I'd go with the iMac.

that desk is awesome. quite the find at the salvo's. my area hardly gets the cool stuff and it is swiped up in no time.

oh, and the iMac sounds like the thing for you

the 500GB 2.5" HDs are too tall for the Mini or laptops.
