Re: One of our own is gone - Stephanie - 05-02-2008 For many of us, it had nothing to do with derision. It was obvious from some of his last threads that something was wrong. He wasn't making any sense. I had truly hoped someone would be able to find him some help before it was too late. May I ask what happened? Rest in peace spearmint. I wish you'd been able to get through what you were going through. Re: One of our own is gone - $tevie - 05-02-2008 This is very sad news. Minty and I had a few brief exchanges via PM in the past and he was a very nice man. I enjoyed his company here on the forum and I feel heartsick about this. I too hope Minty has found peace. Re: One of our own is gone - Paul F. - 05-02-2008 Don't even know what to say.... I'm gonna miss 'mint... Bob, I think his real name was (I'd have to search a lot of PM's to find it). Re: One of our own is gone - kj - 05-02-2008 Oh man. He was a nice guy. I'll miss him. kj. Re: One of our own is gone - Greg the dogsitter - 05-02-2008 Oh, dammit. I think he once made a joke about sending him my phone number so he could get me in trouble...I was posting during a conference at work or some such. So I sent him my cell phone number, but he didn't call. :-( Re: One of our own is gone - lafinfil - 05-02-2008 rest in peace 'minty .... rest in peace Perhaps a bit irreverent - but I think 'mint would enjoy it ..... By the shore's of old Lake Michigan Where the "hawk wind" blows so cold An old Cub fan lay dying In his midnight hour that tolled Round his bed, his friends had all gathered They knew his time was short And on his head they put this bright blue cap From his all-time favorite sport He told them, "Its late and its getting dark in here" And I know its time to go But before I leave the line-up Boys, there's just one thing I'd like to know Do they still play the blues in Chicago When baseball season rolls around When the snow melts away, Do the Cubbies still play In their ivy-covered burial ground When I was a boy they were my pride and joy But now they only bring fatigue To the home of the brave The land of the free And the doormat of the National League http://www.baseball-almanac.com/poetry/po_cubs.shtml http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEAC9NT1CR8 Re: One of our own is gone - Pam - 05-02-2008 OMG, that is awful news. I too hope he is finally at peace and happy. Re: One of our own is gone - kj - 05-02-2008 I hope he had friends and family there with him? I'd feel better knowing he did. kj. Re: One of our own is gone - edgarbc1 - 05-02-2008 i liked 'mint he was conservative but not afraid to ruffle feathers with his straight forward talk... its sad and hopefully his passing will teach and allow us to tolerate different political viewpoints without having to go for the jugular if your opinion differs... a sad day indeed. RIP spearmint Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Re: One of our own is gone - mikebw - 05-02-2008 Jeez, I don't know what to say. How sad. At least he will always be remembered here. |
