My brother had a really corny violin teacher in high school. I've forgotten most of his jokes but one of them had to do with playing "Sonata in D Hankerchief".

Perhaps I am suffering from early onset dementia, but it seems like there is a "musician leaves priceless instrument in cab" story every few years. They always seem to have happy endings, too, apparently proving that cab drivers are disinclined to steal valuable instruments.

How can you fence a $4 million violin anyway? Like trying to pawn a Picasso. Most of the worth is in the uniqueness of the instrument, and the whereabouts and history of every Strad are well known. Might as will give it back, priceless is the same as worthless in this case.

Now, if he'd left a wad $20's behind and the taxi driver tracked him down to gave it back, THEN you'd have a case of real honesty.
