Filliam,

That's the place I was thinking of when it came to the Channel Master.

[quote Black Landlord][quote PeterB]... finally; took over 8 weeks ...

Question now is which converter box to get. The MaxMedia one I wanted has apparently turned out to be either vapor-ware or fraud-ware... looking at this chart ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_CECB_units ), the next two best ones from my perspective are the Channel Master CM-7000 and the Apex DT1001. (I really need S-video, and preferably also analog passthrough.) Anyone know anything about either of those boxes, and/or where to buy them? And if neither of those two, has anyone had experiences (good, bad, indifferent) with any of the boxes on the approved list?

Gave my recommendation last time you asked.
Not sure why you're asking the same thing over again?
Link, please? (Possible you did give a recommendation, and I've just forgotten, and I've tried STFing but didn't find it...)

BL, is it the Digital Stream one that you're talking about? If so, do you have it, and is it any good? (You stated in the post that you got one, but didn't mention anything about the outcome.)

Re: Woo-hoo! Got my converter box coupon... - Black Landlord - 05-08-2008

I wrote a long review, musta landed in another thread.
Yeah, Digital Stream. It's basically perfect. Not sure what other features I would want that it doesn't have; shoot me any questions you might have.

. . .i believe Digital Stream was the company that made the Accurian boxes that were clearanced from Radio Shack a while back. . .

My review is in 71-80, "Surprised-- wow".
Looks like most Chicago reviewers are happy. Anyone know where the signal's being sent from? Someone implied Sears Tower, but don't know if that was informed or just a guess.
Were it not for one 3-story building I'd have line-of-sight to the Sears tower.

Re: Woo-hoo! Got my converter box coupon... - Jimmypoo - 05-08-2008

are there any less than $60?

Was in R/S yesterday -- and Zenith and some other brand were both $60. That's all
they had, but this was a local store that is an ancient franchise unit.

Re: Woo-hoo! Got my converter box coupon... - PeterB - 05-08-2008

Hmmmm... reading the reviews, and what's been written here, it seems it might be a toss-up between the Digital Stream and Zenith units, with the Zenith very slightly coming out on top... unfortunately, my local RS (which is really the easiest for me to get to) only has the Digital Stream one and not the Zenith.
