good stuff people looks like no one is buying the 4gig sticks, i'll start with 8gigs (4 x 2gig sticks) plus the stock 2gigs i should be more than fine with 10gigs total. about to start clearing the desk off and set everything up. thanks everyone.

Re: Poll: MacPro ram/drives - d0e - 05-07-2008

[quote jdc]from all that i have read, you need at least 8 to see a difference

so 2 gigs total in the macpro after your upgrade? (my imac has got 4 gigs)

as for drives, best startup and primary drive is the WD 640 gig drive

bang for buck is a samsung spinpoint 750 gig drive (regardless that someone had one fail)
i was planning on ordering at least 8gig's, ending up with 10gigs total. i'll start keeping a eye open for those drives.

Re: Poll: MacPro ram/drives - jdc - 05-07-2008

spinpoints were just $112 on dealmac

Re: Poll: MacPro ram/drives - Fritz - 05-08-2008

I added 2x2G OWC for a total of 5G in my 2x2G Xeon. Kept the original drive and added the drive from my former G5.
