Re: Sitting on a fence... - Tom Goode - 05-09-2008 Thanks one and all... time to save pennies and pounds. Modelamac, what sort of price would you like to get for your G4? Hypothetically. I am going to get a new mac, but I would dislike immensely to buy one with built-in obsolescence...i.e. one that is 'old' even as it is new to me. Obviously, products are old as soon as they hit the shelves, but some of the graphics cards on Macs are embarrassing. Anyway, maybe I'll wait for the New imac to hit the refurbs (the one with an almost modern card...8800?). Thanks for your time. Re: Sitting on a fence... - jdc - 05-09-2008 just in time -- gaming tests on the 2.4 & 2.8 and 3.0 imacs http://www.barefeats.com/imp01.html regardless, the 2600 will kick your 9800 butt -- it kicked the butt of my G5 dual 2.0 radeon 9800/256 megs vram card Re: Sitting on a fence... - modelamac - 05-10-2008 Price for this G4? The CPU maker went under, so no help there if it fails.. No original CPU - it's gone. I'd be lucky to get $200 even though it is comparable or faster than many of the lower end G5s. Not really a problem as it is going to a grandson who can't wait to get it. He has a good XP computer now, but likes the things I can do on the Mac. We have a switcher in the works, but he doesn't know it. |
