It's my first HD TV, so I don't have much to compare it to, but HD channels are pretty nice. SD channels originally seemed worse than the old TV, but now they're okay. (Maybe I'm getting used to it.) Regarding the 120 Hz feature, on this series of sets, many people end up turning it off, because whan you use it you will often get an image of three balls/pucks/whatever when said single object is thrown/hit/whatever. Search for "Triple Ball Effect" or "TBE" for more details or go here: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/news/supportNewsAlerts.do?site_cd=us&group=&group_cd=&type=&type_cd=&subtype=&subtype_cd=&model_nm=&dType=D&vType=&mType=&menu=news&page=1&spp_news_seq=192&prd_ia_cd=&acc_ia_fl=&disp_nm= I ended up turning the 120 Hz off, and I don't notice any difference in picture or motion quality (except for the lack of the two extra ghosts). Whether TBE affects the newer models, I don't know. Here's a good site for user discussions: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=931005&page=45 Re: OK, so what do you think about the TV? - mikebw - 05-09-2008 They say TBE is much better on the new ones, but I have yet to see it, or the TBE itself. Re: OK, so what do you think about the TV? - Chupa Chupa - 05-09-2008 BTW if you do get the set be sure to apply the latest firmware: http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/05/09/firmware-update-cures-auto-off-issue-in-samsung-650-lcd-hdtvs/ Re: OK, so what do you think about the TV? - Jack D. - 05-09-2008 $1399 at http://www.zoommania.com/descript.asp?prodid=LN40A650P3FXZA |
