Re: How much is your electric bill this month? - mattkime - 05-29-2008 $35/month, all wind power (adds about 10%) Re: How much is your electric bill this month? - AlphaDog - 05-29-2008 [quote guitarist]Puget Sound Energy pays me a monthly fee for the privilege of providing service to my home. Is that unusual? You guys have to PAY a power bill? Why don't you just have them transfer that directly to my account so my bill would be lower? ![]() I'd give anything to have a different utility company. They serve only one small pocket of this town, but, unfortunately, I live in it. The city tried to have one of the other two utilities in the area take over, but Puget Power threatened to run the city into bankruptcy in lawsuits if they tried. That's the problem with a small municipality; they lack the resources to take on the bullies. Something similar happened when WalMart decided they wanted to build here. Re: How much is your electric bill this month? - PeterB - 05-29-2008 On average, about $200-250. A lot of that is because of post-K Entergy, with them jacking up their rates, but a fair bit of it is also the heavy AC use... I have an electronic thermostat, but the AC is still running much of the time. Also, I do have quite a bit of electronic gear. Re: How much is your electric bill this month? - Chupa Chupa - 05-29-2008 My bills are always the same depending on season: Winter (Dec-March): $160 (heat on 70, Gas bill goes from $11 to $175) Spring (April-May): $110 (HVAC off) Summer (June-Sept): $250 (A/C on 74) Fall (Oct-Nov): $110 (HVAC off) Gas Heat, Electric Central A/C & water heater. The KWHs used have been gradually increasing over the past 10 years. I suspect I'm losing a lot of A/C and heat from the crappy builders grade windows. Re: How much is your electric bill this month? - graylocks - 05-29-2008 $64. i'm on budget billing and no-paper billing so i have no idea how my actual usage is going. i do have CFLs everywhere, turn off lights whenever i can, and have yet to cut on the AC. i keep staring at my backyard trying to imagine how i could rig up a clothes line... Re: How much is your electric bill this month? - Lux Interior - 05-29-2008 About 20 Euros/month Re: How much is your electric bill this month? - Racer X - 05-29-2008 [quote guitarist]Puget Sound Energy pays me a monthly fee for the privilege of providing service to my home. Is that unusual? You guys have to PAY a power bill? I must be a preffered customer. Seattle City Light one-ups PSE by sending me a hooker on my birthday. She's reasonably hot, but actually is one of the line crew, so she knows her way around a pole. Oh, $38 I think. Heating isn't too bad in the winter if your house is well insulated, and you really don't need AC here in Seattle during the summer if you are well insulated, as you are keeping the heat OUT, so nothing to cool down, right? I put up and turn on some in-window fans after sundown, and the temp in the house will drop 5 degrees in an hour, and will drop from about 80 at the worst down to about 70 by morning. Re: How much is your electric bill this month? - Michael - 05-29-2008 $115--we've had a relatively cool May, so the next bill will be about the same. Only turned on the AC a couple of times to reduce humidity. Re: How much is your electric bill this month? - blusubaru - 05-29-2008 $67, lots of computers. 1900sq ft., mixed gas and electric. We keep it cold in the winter (63-68F), cool in the summer (72-75F). Re: How much is your electric bill this month? - AlphaDog - 05-29-2008 Mine averages about $53 a month year round. The stove, furnace, and water heater are all gas, and I don't have central air. The bill will vary slightly, especially if I have to use the window a/c in the summer. Most of my bulbs are CFLs, but the dryer is electric, and I also have an old B&W that runs 24/7 as my server. I promised myself I wouldn't get rid of it until it died. Um, it seems to have no intention of doing that! It's now outlived two other newer Macs. |
