Re: Road Trip to Glacier and North Dakota Pics (LONG and MASSIVE BANDWIDTH!) + Cute Critters! - Stephanie - 08-15-2008 Wow somehow I skipped over the marmots pics! I finally saw some of those last year in Colorado. Paul - looking at wikipedia, it was probably the Yellow-bellied Marmot. Links to Marmots Marmot in general: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marmot Looks North America doesn't have too many types of Marmots, so it was probably either the Yellow-bellied marmot: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellow-bellied_Marmot or hoary marmot: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoary_Marmot Re: Road Trip to Glacier and North Dakota Pics (LONG and MASSIVE BANDWIDTH!) + Cute Critters! - jdc - 08-15-2008 you should get yourself a mobileme or adobe photoshop express account to create web galleries Re: Road Trip to Glacier and North Dakota Pics (LONG and MASSIVE BANDWIDTH!) + Cute Critters! - laarree - 08-15-2008 [quote Stephanie]Links to Marmots Marmot in general: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marmot... From that page: "The writings of Marco Polo refer to the marmot as "Maharaja's Mantit."" Mantit? I'll say no more. ;-) Re: Road Trip to Glacier and North Dakota Pics (LONG and MASSIVE BANDWIDTH!) + Cute Critters! - Stephanie - 08-15-2008 lol laarree. Someday I hope to do a western US road trip, and down to the Southwest too. ![]() Re: Road Trip to Glacier and North Dakota Pics (LONG and MASSIVE BANDWIDTH!) + Cute Critters! - laarree - 08-15-2008 [quote Stephanie]lol laarree. What's a trip without a detour now and then? ;-) Re: Road Trip to Glacier and North Dakota Pics (LONG and MASSIVE BANDWIDTH!) + Cute Critters! - Frank - 08-15-2008 Very nice photos! Brings back memories of a trip my wife and i made two years ago. We picked up a new Vette convertible at the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky and drove scenic roads back to Seattle, where we shipped it home to Kauai. We put 6,700 miles on it over 30 days. When we attempted the Going to the Sun Highway through Glacier there was a rock slide that blocked the road half way through. We turned around and drove around the south and east sides of the park and then drove down the other end of this famous road as far as we could. Stunning scenes all along. We then backtracked and went up to Waterton Park and on into Alberta. After that trip we decided to take a month-long driving trip every year. This year will be the northeast ... up to Nova Scotia, to see fall colors (in a Hertz Corvette rental for a couple weeks). You must be out of shape if you call 50 yards a hike though! Re: Road Trip to Glacier and North Dakota Pics (LONG and MASSIVE BANDWIDTH!) + Cute Critters! - Speedy - 08-15-2008 Nice trip! I've delivered utility poles to the electric co-op in Velva a couple of times. In January. It was at least -20.
