Both of my vehicles have an annotation on the gauges:

So which side is the handle on if the gas cap is under the license plate on the butt of the car?

It's very easy to tell

If I am driving a rental or a borrowed car, the fill side will be on the opposite that is is on my truck.
I will realize this as soon as I have pulled up to the pump and gotten out, after sitting in line waiting.

Remember when pumps had those nice long hoses so it didn't matter ?

They haven't built them like that for decades, near impossible to make a car pass crash test that way!

I've noticed that a lot of cars will have a little triangle near the fuel gauge pointing to the correct side.

VooDoo, did you know you can unlock your car with your cell phone??

Wow, that would be great. You mean like when you lose your key and you get the wife at home to send the remote signal via the phone? What a wonderful idea.

Oh and you lot over there still don't know how to make a good cup of tea, trying to use the harbour indeed.

MSG, ya beat me to the punch. That's the way a lot of foreign cars work. the triangle points to the side of the car that the gas cap is on. Says so in the manual of Toyota cars. And there are a lot of them on the street these days. :driving:

Our vehicles have the triangle pointing to the proper side.
