Re: Is Caroline K a done deal? - $tevie - 12-18-2008 She lost her Dad and her uncle to an assassin, her Mom to cancer and her brother to a plane crash, and has no doubt heard enough about her father's womanizing to curl her hair, and you think something on SNL is going to bother her? Plus, why you folks are in such denial about why people did not like Palin is beyond me. Palin is not a smart person -- being a hard worker that slogs along with determination does not mean you are smart, just stubborn -- and you should admit it and stop trying to pretend she is. You don't get to be governor of any state by being stupid-and being stubborn about getting what you want is a quality a lot of people could use more of. Being handed something to you on a platter-such as a Senate seat from NY-also doesn't qualify someone as smart. BTW-her name is Schlossberg. Interesting how the media keeps calling her "Kennedy". What a cruel world we live in. Caroline cannot stand 10 seconds of SNL parody of her before she is carried on a stretcher to a trauma center. If you read my post, you will see that I only commented on the education of the two people mentioned and how I feel their respective degrees qualified them for the jobs they were seeking. Just because you worked hard to get a job, like you say Palin did, does not mean that you are qualified for it or will be good at it. She subjected herself to the scrutiny of the press not because she wanted to, but because it was the cost of admission for running for VP. As I also said, I do not know whether Caroline is qualified or not. I have seen a lot of unqualified people elected and appointed to public office. I am not a cruel person because I do not think Sara Palin is qualified to be Vice President, I am a realist. BTW, I am not a Democrat, if you think that is what makes me cruel. I voted a split ticket this last election, as I often do. I try to decide who I think is the most qualified person before I vote for them, whether or not they walk run or drive to ask for my vote. Just because a Jehovah's Witness walks to my door and works hard to convert me to their idea of religion, does not mean I will convert. From Wikipedia: Although she is often incorrectly referred to as "Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg," she did not change her name when she married. And doesn't necessarily mean you are more qualified. There are a bunch a lawyers in Congress now .....and that speaks for itself. Besides register to vote as a Democrat, that is. Is there something other than that? I believe a law degree is better preparation for a career in the Senate than a journalism degree is preparation for being Vice-President of the United States. As I also said, I do not know if Caroline Kennedy is qualified or not, but she does have better qualifications, IMHO. Knowing the law is a good thing if you are going to be making the laws. There are a lot of lawyers in Congress right now, and there are also a lot of stupid people with little education or common sense. Being smart, well educated or well qualified does not mean you will get elected. The electorate is often stupid and uneducated and may vote for people they relate to or feel they have more in common with. Re: Is Caroline K a done deal? - hal - 12-18-2008 For Senate - sure - no problem. For VP - NO WAY should she be considered. |
