Re: Has anyone see the Benjamin Button movie? - dmann - 12-28-2008 I never go to the movies (not sure why because I do like them) but this is one that I wanted to see. The more references I see to Forest Gump (not just here, I have heard it mentioned elsewhere) the less interested I am. I am one of the few who just doesn't like Forest Gump and I am a HUGE Tom Hanks fan! Will be interested in your review rgG! Re: Has anyone see the Benjamin Button movie? - Mr Downtown - 12-28-2008 I liked it a lot. I'm a sucker for a well-told story and beautifully made period piece, and this is both. Everything about it is wonderfully understated. Re: Has anyone see the Benjamin Button movie? - djroga3 - 12-28-2008 Just saw it tonight, liked it..surprised at the length...many fine character actors..whoever cast it did a fine job. I do like Brad Pitt a lot, and not just because he is really good looking. I thought he was a scream in "Burn After Reading," but people seem to either love or hate that movie. I don't usually like sitting for three hours, but we will be giving it a shot tomorrow. Re: Has anyone see the Benjamin Button movie? - designerdude - 12-28-2008 Thanks for the tips on this film. Was planning to go see it but didn't know it was that darn long! Re: Has anyone see the Benjamin Button movie? - vision63 - 12-28-2008 For $14 dollars, it better be long. Or throw in another movie. Re: Has anyone see the Benjamin Button movie? - rgG - 12-28-2008 My daughter and I just got back. We both loved the movie and I didn't look at my watch once. It was a tear jerker in several spots and very touching in others. There were enough humorous moments thrown in to make it fun and I thought the casting was well done. I can see how it would not be everyone's cup of tea, but I liked it a lot. I think all the actors did great jobs and the CGI for Brad Pitt's character wasn't overwhelming either. A definite thumbs up, from me and my 17 year old daughter. BTW, vision63, we went to the cheapie matinee and our tickets were $6 each. ![]() Re: Has anyone see the Benjamin Button movie? - incognegro - 12-29-2008 we hit the $4 saturday morning matinees here. i saw Valkyrie yesterday & thought it was pretty good. it renewed my interest in Wagner, at least, and reinforced my view that Tom Cruise is a decent actor when given a limited role. He seems to only take safe bets any more - with the exception of his makeup-loaded part in Tropic Thunder and his self-help guru in Magnolia. Re: Has anyone see the Benjamin Button movie? - RAMd®d - 12-29-2008 rg, glad you enjoyed the film. I'm picky about movies I see, so I almost *never* look at my watch. I'm one of the very few people I know who enjoyed King Kong (with Jack Black) and didn't find the length a problem. For me, a "good" viewing time is two hours, give or take a few minutes. There are good movies that are only 90min, but they feel very short. A movie only feels too long if it's a slasher pic or deals with the occult. Those I pass. Although... there's some occult/ghost 3D movie I *may* see because I'm a sucker for 3D And 34D. |
